The forum appears to be a sounding board for all and to many an information source. Communication is a key, to a better city. We are all neighbors and many are friends who help each other when times are rough.

Being involved in benefits and fund raisers I see a real good side of people who reside here.

We talk about the city projects and see the beauty of it as a former professional landscaper, I admire.

Our two lakes one is recreational and one a wilderness recreation, a tribute to our past. I am half Native American that grew up in the Ozarks of Missouri. My mothers family was  Osage, my father Irish. I watched the Ozarks get sucked up by Resorts and Amusement parks. I go down there and visit my old favorite place in the world to be. Where I would comtemplate life, dream of my future, and just be alone,
Describes my feeling now about Albert Lea.

It is not that people don't want to fixs things and improve things, we are tapped. Call us nay sayers if you will. With the federal goverment cutting funds our city has turned to us and we have gave for a school we agreed on through vote. We have gave to a Jobs Zone we have gave to a court house.

Let us catch a breath and our city has to slow down on current spending if they cannot cut back they most logical thing to do is postpone I have postpone alot of things in my life and the sewer improvments can be made on a as needed expense.

The real problem is the with the expansion of the city to 35 and 90 the water is going to be flowing futher and faster by the time it gets down to historical northside water is going to be backed up in basements Minnesota St. to Ulsted Ave.

I say the water was a problem with this last rain we got but how often is that. Do what the city has done in the past and expand the flood zone of the city that will put a bandaid on the problem till federal money is availble again.

You ought to be ashamed of yourself. A real Indian rarely shuns good cannabis for a poison fire water. That must be the Irish part...LOL :D

I've gotta say, GEO, I've been off the forum for a while.  But that was one hell of a good post.  I like you're thinking on that.  P.S., THANKS!

Excellent post GEO.  Your really starting to find your voice. That is the cool thing about the forum, every one can now have a voice. This change in dynamics will scare a few people.

Geo with your Native American Blood maybe we can open that Casino PH wants on the lower lake... lol    :D

seriously great post, my mother lives on the northside and her basement was flooded this year, hopefully it will be a one time thing but the water was coming up her drain.. but we did get a lot of rain in short time....
Question, how would the sanitary sewer be backed up by rain water when it's illegal for a home owner to run a sump pump into a sewer line. Are we taking street run off water in to the sanitary sewer at Walmart or Trails ?
