Minnesota legislators have said the smoking ban will bring a new clientele, but local bars haven’t noticed any difference.

“We may see more once the weather gets colder. As of now they can go outside, have a cigarette and come back and finish their beer.”

Well inventing the news as usual. Par for the Bird cage liner.

I wonder what time of day the picture was taken of that busy bar?
Posted by TameThaTane on Nov. 12 2007,1:29 pm
Why would the paper even do a story on this? So what how much business a bar has?

It's as if they're saying, See? We supported the smoking ban and we were right. Our decision was good...well la di frickin' DA!

This statement would lead me to believe business is down 25 %.

This only proves those whom have imposed their do good life style on others were never coming to the bar regardless it was smoke free or not.

But, don't you impose your do good life style on cannabis users?  :dunno:

Yes I do I say don't let me see you doing that and don't do it in front of me. You are breaking the law using it. So do not implicate me in your criminal act.  :deadhorse:

Now replace cannabis with non smokers or water drinkers.

Can I come to your bar and drink water all night without a snide look.
Don't you want me to drink alcohol?
What about coming to your place and not inhaling smoke? Can I do that?
These things are legal.
What about hopscotch? Can I come and play hopscotch in your bar?

Posted by TameThaTane on Nov. 12 2007,2:10 pm
It's not a criminal act Geo. It's a petty misdemeanor and in MN a petty misdemeanor is not a crime.

Yes we sell water buck a bottle, drink all you want, we also sell energy drinks, juice and pop, Taking up space in place of business and not buying something is called loitering which is against the law.

Now if you are a designated driver for a group of people purchasing beverages we will supply tap water over ice at no charge.

Have you not heard all bars in MN are smoke free. Come through the front door smokers are out back.

A petty misdemeanor is the legal designation in Minnesota for a violation in which the sentence may not exceed a fine of $300. A petty misdemeanor is not a crime. No jail or workhouse time can be imposed and/or stayed upon a plea of guilty or afinding of guilty on a petty misdemeanor charge

On the contrary, what fantasy world do YOU live in.

???

You might fit in during the later hours. Some that have been in the bar for a while "look" like they are playing hop scotch

Some of my non smoking friends are telling me that the bars are actually doing better? They don't go to Geo's bar, so maybe the real small bars that only attracted the regulars will lose out. I don't know, I haven't been out to the bars in a long time, I'm just going by what others are telling me.

How was the bar last weekend Geo?

I just realized how the state is going to benefit from the non-smoking in bars bit... you walk out back, have a smoke, and get arrested for public drunkeness.... How thoughtful!

I always say the government won't do a damn thing unless they profit from it

One fellow who grew up in Nazi Germany tried to explain to American students in the 1980's, when asked how the German people could possibly have been "stupid" enough to follow Hitler. "You need to understand the cultural differences. Italians were only susceptible to Italian-style fascism. Germans were only susceptible to German-style fascism. When fascism comes to America, it will look quite different. It will be American-style fascism. (paraphrased) ."

Read Hitler's "Mein Kampf" for step-by-step instructions on how to accomplish this with ANY movement/cult, even one as ludicrous as Naziism. After all, the anti-smoking industry has read it. The anti-smoking industry lives by Mein Kampf. The anti-smoking industry is far and away the most successful post-World War II implementation of Hitler's mass manipulation program. There isn't even a second-place movement in sight.

You're dealing with fanatics, evil masquerading as good, insanity masquerading as credibility, hate masquerading as benevolence. It is good to be very, very frightened, yes, even terrified. History is in the making, and posterity will certainly view our present generation with much shame and contempt for what we are doing to THEM, as much as to ourselves.

When a constitutional United States still existed, the state capitol building in St. Paul would have been surrounded by tens of thousands of citizens within hours of the smoking ban's passage, and legislators who voted for the smoking ban would never again be granted the privilege of governing a Free People. Legislators in St. Paul would have been treated with the same regard as any other dictatorial tyrant. They might even have been held criminally accountable for wasting everyone's time and money servicing their personal hatred of tobacco, while neglecting their few defined duties, which includes making certain that our BRIDGES DON'T COLLAPSE.

Instead of THAT. We've got THIS: the same evil, hate-driven lunatics now trying to ban smoking inside apartment buildings in Minnesota. And the legislators in St. Paul will likely get re-elected, so they can set the United States back yet a couple more centuries in terms of human liberty. We inherited a Constitution with a clearly-defined Bill of Rights, and we leave our descendants nothing but prayers that they might one day see the Magna Carta signed within their lifetimes.

 That would be true for albert lea since they don't have to walk through any more they just walk around back and haul them in. :p

Smoking indoors in public places is ILLEGAL Geo. What can't you understand about that?

You're fascist...a born and bred home-grown fascist and the chickens have come home to roost.

You want to prevent people from smoking cannabis in their own homes, want to take their assets and freedom. You've got it easy. Very easy. What a big baby...a big hypocrite baby. What a jerk! Spend your time destroying other peoples lives, then when your drug is banned from public buildings, you claim going back hundreds of years in personl liberty. Liberty that you took from millions in your drug war.

Geo,

No where in your rambling incoherent response did you come close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. We are all dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul
