I worked for a company in which I had to monitor our sewage output and treat the sewage prior to release to the city to ensure we were in compliance with the cities guidelines for acceptable bod levels. The city also monitored our release with an automated sampling devise located at our business site.

Now it is estimated it is going to cost 130,000 dollars to dispose of the sludge.

I am sure the city has imposed the proper fines to the company (companies) responsible for the release.

Now watch them tack an extra increase to us.

This one, however, I'm sure is right on.

If the Trib wanted to do a truly investigative piece, they would have reported what companies are culpable, and why this chemical is ending up in the sewer.

I believe that the article said that the chemical is used by compaines with cooling towers (the hospital, etahol plant, etc) and metal processing plants (Lou Rich, Streaters, etc).  Hopefully the City can absorb this and it truely is corrected as the article said and we do not have this happen again.
