Editor: you might want to check w/your email provider since I've sent this 3 times to Ltr to Ed and you never get it? I'm confused.  So I'll try this because I know a forum member is out there waiting for an answer to your 11/26 post.  Here goes the 4TH try..
The question:  Who registered all the aledc websites?    Scott Hanna said he can take credit for registering only the .biz and .info domains for aledc.  The mystery:  Who does own the domain names for the .org, .com, .net?   To solve:  elementary.   Go to www.register.com.  Enter the domain name (ex. www.aledc.com) and hit GO.  Enter it again and mark all you want info on, (ex. .com, .org, .net).  If the site is taken as 3 are, it willl say not avail and will list WHOIS www.aledc.com.  Select this and click GO.  It’s that simple.   If that is too complicated let me save you steps by telling you.  www.aledc.com, .org, .net are all registered to, administered & supported by & billed to:  Good Old Boys Club Clark Street.  Email – bosshawg@albertlea.com phone & fax 507-383-6645.  Call the number and see who answers.   More revealing is that these sites were registered on Oct. 30 (3 days after the city council heard the restructuring plan for economic development.  Who does bosshawg work for and WHY would he want to register these sites?  For that matter Scott, why do you want the .biz and .info?   Are the reasons sincere or are they excuses to impede the city’s progress in developing the AL economy?

Geez blondie, how is dagwood?

but really who cares, if so and so registered those domains?  I don't really see how its effecting you, the other thing I hate is some one registers a domain, then all of a sudden some company decides they would like to use that name, and come up with some BS lawsuit to force the forfeiture of that domain, effectivly stealing it, while others have made a very lucrative profit in selling their domain names.

But really, who cares, he got to em before any one else.
Snooze you loose.

Boss Hawg doesn't care if you call, he won't answer, it's just voicemail.

No mystery here, my only interest in this is making our city do what is right. If the city removes the private entity from the ALEDC and follows the proper procedure for hiring an executive director for the port authority I will gladly sign the names over to the port authority. Otherwise they can just pick a new name and hope I don't beat them to that one.

I have no problem telling you why I registered aledc.biz and aledc.info. It's business. Currently I have approx. 30 domain names that point to FreebornCounty.com. When I see a potential name that is going to get a lot of exposure, I purchase the names and point them at my site. That's how I keep the hit counter rising on a continual basis. If the ALEDC wants them down the road for a ligitimate website, I wouldn't be apposed to turning them over. However I don't see them wanting the .biz or .info names. Had all the names been available, yes I would have purchased them. It's a no brainer to buy many names and point them at my own site. I'd like to have Greaterjobs.com and AlbertLea.com as well, but they are already taken. Are we hindering the ALEDC by purchasing those names? I think not. I'm sure they will come up with a domain name in the future that no one has thought of. This is a first come first served business.

That sounds more like a group of local elected officials with a name like that.

Besides that, the ALEDC should not be allowed to own a domain name, especially if they let Bishop manage it.  You see, she still has a problem with one of her old sites she didn't keep up to date.  I'm not going to post a link to this site, but it has something to do with the "Albert Lea Business Development Center".org  Yeah, Pam, the site is still there.  Screwed up again, didn't you?

Board members are considering a name that would envelope both organizations. One possibility is the Albert Lea Area Economic Development Corporation, said Bishop.

I don't think it's a possibility anymore....  Boss Hawg and the Good Old Boys now own the domain names alaedc.com, alaedc.org and alaedc.net.  They should be available in the whois database within the next 24 hrs.

If there are any other possible names that you might use just go ahead and put those in the paper also and Boss Hawg and the Good Old Boys will see what we can do about increasing the size of our domain name collection.

Boss Hawg received an email from Mayor Eaton today.  It was a virus from the mayor and it was addressed to bosshawg@albertlea.com, it came through the Ratwick law servers so most likely an atty with ratwick got a virus and it spoofed my address and the mayors address out of an address book.

But since it came through the Ratwick law firm servers it makes me think someone might be trying to sue ol' boss hawg for his domain names.

If the mayor and her cronies want the domain names they can have them free of charge if they do the right thing and go through the proper steps to hire a PA Director and Marketing Director and remove the private board from the PA.

It's quite the list I have if they'd like them.
aledc.com
aledc.org
aledc.net

And the latest editions
alaedc.com
alaedc.org
alaedc.net

I wonder if there is anything in that patriot act to protect you from ambulance chasers or social climbers sending you a virus?

If they were going to bring a lawsuit against Boss, they should have brought one against the company that made porn sites out of two of their economic development sites.

People share the strangest information with Boss Hawg.

Boss Hawg found this in his inbox today.(it's from the head of the chamber of commerce to other chamber members)

Quote

I talked to Paul Sparks before the council meeting last night. The $400,000 + allocated to downtown restoration can be used only for a TIF district according to Paul and we don't qualify.  Of the $295,000 the city has to loan, $250,000 is promised to Mrs. Gerry's for some kind of sewer upgrade.  That leaves $45,000 that could be loaned to the Chamber.  Paul is going to call me this morning, but it looks as though that is what is available.

Do we need to be meeting as an executive committee at 3 this afternoon to decide upon a course of action?

What do you mean her husband won't open a business here?  Isn't the Chamber Head Marge something?  Are you talking about Pam Bishop?
Posted by Boss Hawg on Mar. 02 2004,9:48 pm
I wonder how a lobbying organization like The Chamber expects to get a loan from the city when lobbying organizations aren't eligible for city loans.  Maybe they will just funnel it through another entity?

business as usual in Albert Lea... Sparky decides what rules apply to who.

Ain't it the truth. :(
Posted by Boss Hawg on Mar. 12 2004,10:05 am
There is a story in the Tribune about the city borrowing money to the Chamber. Didn't I tell you they would funnel that money through a phoney business entity?

This town is so corrupt they're becoming predictable.

Quote

Since the Chamber is an advocacy group, which lobbies for businesses, it had to form a neutral organization which could accept the money and use it only for building payments, said Hamersly. The city's revolving fund cannot be used for lobbying groups.

The organization the Chamber created is called the Albert Lea Area Improvement Company

Maybe they will just funnel it through another entity?

City Manager Sparks explained that because the money to be loaned is federal money the City cannot loan it to any lobbyist based group, such as the Chamber. Ms. Hamersly then explained that the Chamber will be filing articles of incorporation for a non-profit corporation named Albert Lea Area Improvement Company, Inc. that will exist for the purpose of receiving loans and donations for the purpose of purchasing the building.

Here's the next puzzle for you to figure out.

When discussing giving the Chamber a loan to buy that building Fjelsted opposed giving them the money because There would soon be room in city hall and they could move in there.

Where do you think that extra room is going to come from?
