I think we all can agree that smoking isn't good for you. In fact it is bad for you. With that said, Let the bars decide if they want to go smoke free or not. Government should NOT be able to tell you how to run your business (anymore then they already do that is). If there is such a demand for non smoking bars why doesn't someone open one or two? They should make a killing .. right?
As far as throwing cig's out the car window ... don't you have an ashtray? That's just rude, filthy and insensitive, not to mention dangerouse.
Gum wrappers (or any garbage) being thrown out of a car window is JUST as stupid. Keep your garbage inside of your cars until you get to a dumpster or trash can.
I have found that most smokers are very curtiouse of non smokers. More so now then ten years ago. It's getting better.
It's funny, but when ever I go shopping I seem to run across someone that smells as though they have bathed in purfume. The smell is so horrifying it literally takes my breath away and gives me an instant headache. I find that to be invasive and offensive too. And what about car exhaust ... factory smells ... airplanes dumping chemicals ... filth in our water ... Etc.

This is obviously directed at me. I throw a cig out the window and am labeled with a string of insults?

To be honest with you ... I just glanced through the other thread and I really couldn't remember who brought that up. So no, it wasn't directed specifically at you ... but to everyone that throws crap out of a car window.
I doubt you are the only one throwing cig butts out the window ... if you are, I've been behind you many times

I don't think that throwing a cigeratte butt out the window should get a jackboot inprinted on your neck, but it is littering. It does make you a litterbug, but at least it is 100% biodegradable, not like a beer can. 
I would not worry too much irisheyes, but in a lot of states (especially west of here) it will give you an automatic $500 dollar fine.On the other hand, I have found birdnest that were lined with the cotton filter material, so obviously birds like to gather up the butts in sping
