ST. PAUL (AP) - The DFL endorsed candidate for attorney general says he would come down harder on creditors who foreclose on property of deployed military personnel.

State Representative Matt Entenza says lenders who violate state and federal laws protecting property of deployed service members should face severe financial penalties. He says the current penalties are too lax.

Right now, the law carries misdemeanor criminal charges, which Entenza says are rarely pursued.

Entenza says he would also add a special veterans unit within the attorney general's office if elected.

Entenza is running against Republican Representative Jeff Johnson.

Last month, Entenza announced an initiative to protect veterans from identity theft.

Johnson and Republicans accused Entenza of pandering to veterans and their families and said he hasn't made their issues a priority as a legislator.

How sad is it that there even has to be a law about this?

Why should businesses have to pay? The Government should pay back the banks for crying out loud...
