A tiny and closed fraternity of privileged men, elected by no one, and enjoying a monopoly sanctioned and licensed by government.

Spiro is my man!  He gave us the term "Nataling Nabobs of Negativism", and a host of other great sayings.  I had a Spiro T. Agnew wrist watch made by the Dirty Time Company.  I ordered it from an add in the Wall Street Journal.  The man knew his language and was almost poetic with it.  It did my heart good to see him get discovered as the smarmy rat he was.  I wore that watch in the service with pride, it got me alot of unwanted attention but I wasn't about to take it off.  One day I awoke in a hospital and the watch was gone.  I was told that saved my life.  Now you can see why I'm so conflicted about the man, the watch, oh I don't know.  Thank you for letting me get this off my chest I've bore it too long.  Goodnight Spiro!

Water board will tax in 2004

By Tim Sturrock, Tribune staff writer Aug 21 2004

They've been around for a month and a half, and so far the Shell Rock River Watershed District has approved a $250,000 operating budget but won't implement any plans to clean the watershed for at least a year...
....The district has approved exactly $250,000 for an operating budget that will serve for administration, including payments to members for attending meetings and other work for the district. It's the maximum amount of money that the district can tax and will be reviewed by BWSR.

Just saw a county board agenda for Feb 3 2004: (They want more? )

And just think your local SWCD should have been doning the very thing that the watershed board will attempt to do, and that is to implement improving water quality by working side-by-side with landowners and businesses. The watershed board will help people understand and use farm and conservation programs; just like the SWCD should be doing.
