so no Dairy Queen again then?

and looks like some mighty interesting changes out on MAIN STREET. .

keep looking at the intersecting points pre GARFIELD and wonder how they could even be navigated  :dunno:

some intersections are gone as well. . .

When I was in town at the beginning of August it looks like they are putting in a few J-Turns there on East Main. My parents are less than pleased :D

but seriously thanks! was wondering what those were. . .

guess needed an 'out-of-towner' to get the scoop on what's going on with the roads in Albert Lea . .

anytime have asked any locals about anything road repair related. . . they usually just say: 'i dunno' lol

and yes it is EAST MAIN should have said that

When I was living in the Kato area they put a couple in by eagle lake, there's a couple in St. Peter now too.
More on the way up 169 as well. Becoming way more common.

I guess it begs the question, why did the chicken cross the road?

In three…two…one :D

Thanks for the vid expat.
In my experience, especially when coming into St. Peter from the Cities on my way to Kato, you get a ton of people that need to go North on 169 coming from the new Kwik Trip and/or McDonalds so they need to go south on 169 then do the U turn. It can be a little confusing when you come in cuz they pull out in front of you but get in the left lane right away. I have seen a handful off accidents where people have done that not knowing someone was in the left lane already passing a vehicle. Still better than a T - bone I guess.
All in all I'm not opposed to them, they have there place. Kinda like traffic circles. Although I've grown to love them though.

It really comes down to T-bone accidents. Have you seen how the blue hairs drive around here?

@ GIL..I agree changing lanes for a turn causes it's own hazard on these reduced conflict intersections. I'm sure we'll experience a little road-rage until people get the hang of this new change.

Haven't seen the finished product of the reduced conflict intersections on East Main hopefully they can retain some space for bicyclists...

All that’s really needed is to pay attention.

well thank you Self Banished!

The thing with the lane change to U-Turn is that it's all so fast. You need to get over in a hurry or you'll miss it. The ones in St. Peter aren't too bad as there isn't as much traffic.  You get to the stupid candy store in Jordan during peak times and it gets a little hairy. No one does less than 70 through there...

:soapbox:

can't believe. .  that in this post modern world..  that there isn't a better alternative. .  to leaving all those gaping drop offs. .  between the levels of the underlayment

cripes. .  coming in on 46 the other day. felt like was in that old movie. .  Thelma and Louise. .  and was going off the cliff. . .

call 3M. . . tell them we need long wedge shaped thing to put between road layers. .  during extended periods of road construction . . .

it's ridiculous   :soapbox:

a lot of the spots you don't have the luxury. .  to take on the head on bumps. .  slowly. . because you have too much traffic coming at you . . .

they appear to be on a pace for several more weeks  :soapbox:

My car has pretty low profile tires and I swear those bumps would damage my rims if I don't go over them really slow.

Same thing I thought was that there has to be a better way.

46 is crazy right before the turn to the park, I can't believe that didn't hurt somebody.

put some of these down on the turn north onto to the service road where TACO JOHNS is. . .

and some more on the BUSINESS 35 loop intersection going to WALMART TOWN

Car Vehicle Curbside Driveway Ramp

although you probably need a regular low profile ramp as those probably wouldn't cover the 12 inch gap. . .

quite the retention pit they dug at the softball fields.

and in the road repair department -

wonder if those blobs of tar all over the place now just wear away? is that how that works?

I really like what they did on East Main with that walking/bike trail, I think it runs all the way to Trails Truck Stop.

yeah a long time waiting but overall vast improvement all the way 'round. . . sidewalks on the north end by Trumbles as well. .  and the new lights are something to behold

very illuminating experience

its going to be interesting to see how it all pans out @ new traffic situations

when you are utilizing some of the J-turns they have triangles that look like they're pointing against you: that feels weird

don't particularly care for the expansion of more single lanes: newest one being. . . the business loop coming into town past WALMART VILLAGE . . now it has been reduced to a single lane

the changing of the straight ahead lane to the right turn lane @GARFIELD and MAIN . . . seems like it will slow traffic down? block the entrance to KWIKIE TRIP if there is a lot of traffic?

when it was a right turn lane. . . it seemed to keep things rolling along pretty smoothly. . .

pretty radical transformation though all the way 'round. . things are looking a lot better. .  another new building going up by where TACO JOHNS used to be. . .

Thought the same thing those triangles are backwards..

that single lane thing is going to impede traffic...
