Sheriff could have told the potential criminals that they will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. He could say that if they have any weapon whilst entering a home they will be charged with intent to murder And then he could say “and I just want to kindly remind everyone that homeowners do have the right to protect their homes, families and selves from intruders and I would hate to see anyone hurt”
As you pointed out recently, we are an overly sue happy society. The sheriff opened himself up for a lawsuit. Someone gets shot for whatever reason, shooter says “sheriff told me to just shot. I was saving us money” and then the victim sues both

The Sheriff is from a county in North West Florida with low crime.He's campaigning at the expense of the county on potential legal exposure for the next accidental home shooting.
Ambulance chasers live in Florida like every other state.

Have some Friends that moved to Florida, they were thinking about the Villages Retirement Community but found one in Ocala Florida they liked better.
Insurance is one of their big complaints, home owners insurance in Florida is the highest in the Nation, there's more claims in Florida lately causing rates to sky rocket.
Their second biggest complaint is population, there's over 22 million and growing and that doesn't count the snow birds..
way too many people, to much traffic for the habitable landmass that's available.
I think if they had it to do over they would have stayed in Minnesota.

At the end of your video the guy does explain about different states different laws.
While Minnesota law does read you have a duty to retreat, someone breaking into your home is committing a crime and can be interpreted to overrule the retreat part of the law.
It doesn't matter where you live, Minnesota, Florida or wherever if you are involved in a shooting you need legal representation..
The cops are not your friends, let your lawyer do the talking..
Either that Sheriff is dumb as a box of rocks or he's trying to hustle votes from stupid people...
