We started seeing self-serve checkouts in everything from grocery stores to Olive Garden restaurant long before the minimum wage was raised to $8 in Minnesota, much less $15.Automation is going to increase as technology gets cheaper. As for labor costs, the minimum wage in most states and nationally hasn't even kept up with inflation or the cost of living, so I wouldn't blame the people at the bottom of the pay scale.

^^ yes, I like the self-serve kiosks at the grocery store, pretty slick when you're in a hurry. But as of late I shop Hyvee, they bag your vittles.I wonder if there's post high school education for baggers, a new career for you Kaptain?

I prefer an actual cashier.

for Hy-Vee, they're one of my favorite stores in this neck of the woods. Up in your area (metro) the Coborns stores are pretty good as well.QUOTE

Up in your area (metro) the Coborns stores are pretty good as well.We were excited to get Hyvee just for the fact to have something different from Cub, their corporate owned stores suck, the franchised ones are pretty good. Coborn's is a bit far to drive but they are excellent.
