Anybody else hear that the clinic is transferring to Austin? It seems a bit strange to me and want to know if anyone has heard. The trib hasn't had anything on it.

People in Austin heard their clinic is moving to Albert Lea.
This is not going to happen. It is just a rumor without fact and nothing more.
It is true they might move some specialities over or back. They need to change
the business model they have now going forward to stay profitable.

Um, isn't Mayo a non-profit? When they get extra money, they just eat up neighborhoods.

You can look at it negatively and say they gobble up neighborhoods.  Or you can understand that many of the services that are right here in our hometown would never be available in a city our size without the backing and support of Mayo.

The ability for kidney dialysis patients to stay close to home during intensive therapy.  A state of the art wound care hyperbaric facility for diabetic and other non-healing wounds and sores.  A cancer center.  And countless specialists that would never be able to maintain a practice in a city of 17000 without that support.

My mother was able to go through nearly her entire oncology treatment plan right here, saving countless days away from home in hotels, travel time, and many other related expenses.

I'll gladly give up dilapidated houses, crumbling buildings, and other eyesores for that type of progress.  Too many people walk around with rose colored glasses remembering Cap Emmons in it's glory days, or how beautiful a 100 year old house looked on the outside.

Why don't you stop beating around the bush and tell us how you really feel about it nzeroesc.

Just to clarify. Non-profits need to make a profit to sustain themselves.
Their profits are not distributed to share holders or a private ownership group.
Bremer Bank is a non-profit. Owned and operated by a foundation.

I notice you're getting drunk and belligerent earlier in the evening Hymen.

I'll bet the Mayo system has a fine alcohol and drug rehabilitation program tailored just for you.
