I like how he mentions tech and how that is changing the landscape.

People like Trump sound like coffee shop pundits I've heard all my life. "Things used to be better'. "We need to bring back this and that'.

But we're not going back to 1950.

I realize we're not going back to the fifties. I do like the technology we have today and am excited about what could happen in my lifetime but it is true that some things were better back then. Like a clothes washer for instance they lasted longer back then than some of the washers we have today. I think that the ideas for washers today are neat like the add wash thing for the front loader but i don't like the top loaders with the impellers. So my choice is speed queen. They will last year's like washer from back then because their basically still made the same as then. Check YouTube out about some of the newer washers and how some people don't like them or search "exploding Samsung clothes washer"

So all in all yes i like technology just not all of it and yes i am excited for what and/or where we're going to go with it but i wish it lasted longer.

Sorry if i went off topic a little but theirs what i first thought.

Oh and one last thing maybe things lasted longer back then because they were made of better parts and quality and ALL in AMERICA!

Lasted longer as in "what product"?

Products were serviceable back in the day. Not so much, now. What a shadetree mechanic could fix with a five-dollar part and a handful of wrenches now requires a professional and four hundred bucks.

Thirty years ago shop rates were $25-$35 an hour, now they're $110 to $140. Parts are made overseas but they're lasting longer, tires are a good example. I used to get 18-20 months on a set of recaps, now I get 30-36 on a set of Chinese made drives and cost is the same.
