Ok. Last nights paper read:
7 interested in Blazing Star.  I'm thinking great!!
Now, a few paragraphs later:
Adams said he was impressed by the amount of interest in the site, considering the city hasn't advertised for it.
Once we do start promoting it, we hope it's more than that.
I am confused. I was under the impression that this site has been promoted for the last 10 years, 24/7.  What the heck has been going on all of these years?

Nothing has been going on. Look how long it took to knock down Mt. Sparks and throw down some grass seed.

It's been a long time since I've driven around that place but doesn't it overlook some type of septic settling pond?

Our city wants to move front st. What i don't get is why they have to do this. I think instead of them moving front st they should just section off that slab of land the way it is. I would also think that it would cost us tax payers less money than moving the dumb st it may make the city a little money.

As much as I want to tell the City to stick Blazing Star Landing up their a$$, I've always felt Albert Lea wasn't utilizing the interstate system to grow our economy..

But the current plans proposed for the area will only take away from area's that are finally developing a commercial base.. They need to continue to develop at I35 and I90.. At this point its goofy to develop an area known to flood on a swamp lake and also a good distance from the interstates.. Let it sit for another 20 years and discuss it then..

I think installing exits on I90 at the Bath Road would be a good start by Plaza St and the airport for commercial and industrial..

I think the Glenville exit on I35 also has potential for commercial and industrial..

Both have City utilities available..

I think Albert Lea has squandered a number of oportunities for growth over the last twenty years.  Alot of that could be laid on Mr. Sparks, but he's been gone for almost ten years now.  A lot of politicians talk a good game about improving our area, both economically and physically, but it seems no one wants to put real effort or money behind those plans.  We have a dredger that now sits collecting dust (and storage fees) that we are unwilling to use to improve Albert Lea Lake, which in turn could help us bring more tourist dollars to our area, because everyone's afraid of what will be dredged up.  But no one suggest that we, I don't know, maybe run some test to see what's out there?  We have two major interstate Hiways intersecting by our city and we're letting it go to waste because a small group of politicos want to maintain the status quo!
