So the city manager is now spouting he needs an assistant because well, that assistant has replaced the positions of community development director and finance director.He's willing to address the issue with groups who have comments or concerns. So how about this question. You eliminated the position of finance director from personnel, but you hired an outside company to be your finance director. How much are you paying?

They city manager saying the assistant city manager covers a vacant finance director position is true, but it's also an intentional misdirection. The city is paying far more for the independent contractor overseeing city finances than they would pay for a finance director position.
