Monday, Presidents' Day, Union members took up signs and proceeded to protest an what they thought was Scott Walkers residence. But it seems that union members are lacking in intelligence and protested the wrong house, the house they terrorized was that of Walkers parents.

Two minutes on Google shows that it IS HIS house.  The article that they quote shows pictures in front of Walker's house, and saying that it's Walker's house.  But naturally Brietbart, dailymailer, and Fox decided to listen to Walker instead.

< Local news story with pictures. >  < This is the story and photos conservatives quoted, showing Walker's House.

< Surprise, mostly conservative media believed it. >

It comes down to simple harrassment, protest him all you want, at the capital, governors residence, etc. stay the hell away from anyone's home for that sh!t :(

The protesters are nothing more than cowardly thugs.

Looks like they'll get their due today

SB, wasn't the whole point of this thread, they are too stupid too protest the right house? Did they protest the wrong house? ???

They protested a private residence, still the wrong house.

I suppose I'm splitting hairs but it comes down to ethics and unions have no ethics.

Besides, when's the last time a thread on here stayed true the original topic?

It seemed pretty simple before, you (and Fox, Brietbart, and dailycaller) claimed they had the wrong house, and you went a step further questioning their intelligence to make that mistake.

< Wisconsin Assembly debate begins on right-to-work bill >
Wisconsin lawmakers on Thursday began a final debate on a measure supported by Republican Governor Scott Walker that would prohibit private-sector workers from being required to join a union or pay dues when working under union contracts.

Walker, a presidential hopeful, is expected to sign the right-to-work bill on Monday if it gets to his desk after what could be a 24-hour session in the state Assembly.

It's heavy-handed and wrong for Wisconsin to inject government into these private contractual relationships that have worked well for both workers and private companies for decades.
What we are witnessing in Wisconsin is the Republican true nature to attack the working class while enriching the upper 1% at the expense of economic viability.
In the years to come Wisconsin shall take it’s place alongside other red state as a low wage economic disaster depending on food stamps and welfare to support it low wage populace.

The Republican platform is a disaster for Capitalism!

< Wisconsin Assembly passes right-to-work bill after 19 hours of debate >

isconsin lawmakers voted along party lines Friday to make their state the 25th to enact right-to-work legislation, pushing a fast-tracked bill through the Assembly after an overnight debate and sending it on to Gov. Scott Walker for his promised signature..

Still stinging from Walker's signature 2011 law that stripped most public workers of nearly all their union rights, Democrats railed against the bill through the night. One after another, they delivered rambling speeches in which they tried to persuade Republicans to send the bill back to a committee for revision.

Be specific. There are three kinds of Capitalism: Free-market, well-regulated and crony.

By their own actions, Republicans (and a lot of Democrats) do not care about long-term economic growth, or losses thereto in the long term. Only short-term profits matter. It's been that way since Reagan. The Walkers of the world know that they'll be long dead by the time these chickens come home to roost. The one percent has theirs, and to Hell with the rest of us.

A well-paid working class IS the tide that raises all boats, but try to convince these greedy bastards of that.

All that happened in Wis is an end to extortion, plain and simple. If the unions are so great why do they have to rely on coercion to keep their membership? The unions need to revamp their philosophy, actually provide a service to their ranks and not be the lazy thugs they are.

Two very different approaches.

One is taking less from those who've earned it moving the line closer to a fair tax system than Minnesota.  Hopefully the deficit this has created will lead to major cuts to non-essential wants or needs.  Easier to cut the fat from Government when you have less then it is when you are flush like Minnesota.  I look at Walker's strategy as more of a long term solution in reducing the size of Government and a retooling needs to occur to accomplish this.  Imo.

The other doesn't look at what we can do without, but feels it's the governments duty to take more from some people to feed their spending addictions.

You should note that Wisconsin has a Moody's rating on their GO bonds of Aa2 vs Minnesota's Aa1.  As recently as November 2014 they changed the outlook from Stable to Positive.  Not as big of a divide as the picture above would lead you to believe.  They also go onto state the reason for the change is due to an improved budget trend and limited pressure from pensions.  Not to mention that Wisconsin has experienced their strongest Tax Collections since 2006 despite the tax cuts.

Each side can make a strong argument why one is better than the other.  In my opinion, the citizens always win when the government operates with less and the people keep more of what they've earned. When it comes to who can manage money better, I will take the citizens over their government any day.  Call me naive and I would probably say the same of you if you placed your trust more in the government as the liberals here lead everyone to believe.

The reason our incomes are higher in Minnesota vs. Wisconsin?  Do the libs really feel the need to give credit to the government?  You guys should learn to take more credit for yourselves and give credit where credit is due.  Minnesotans have always been an above average people.  :D

I agree. And those who are constantly disparaging government intervention suddenly change their tune when their precious corporate interests are threatened.

Wisconsin politicians submit to corporate pressure once more. It is they who dwell in the lower regions, lower than the cheap labor scabs, both whom seem intent on driving the middle class closer to their dog-eat-dog mentallity.

Corporations use cheap labor/whore politicians as tools for their gain. In Russia it's called Maskirovka-“little masquerade”---lies, half-truths, intimidation. Putin uses it to invade and acquire wealth and control. US corporations use it likewise. Sadly some unions join the fray.

Caught in the middle of this corporate/union battle are workers who may have no allegiance to either. Are we doomed to a life as a low paid tool, whether union or not?

^No.  Go out and start a business.  Become self-employed or an independent contractor.  Create your own destiny.

More minorities coming to this country become business owners than the people who were born and raised here.  Many of them start from nothing.

You only allow "the man" to rule you if you let them.  Take them out of the equation.

Yep. You forgot independent contracting too.  I know that's not realistic and I totally get that it's easier for most to get a general labor job and spend the rest of their life bitching about low wages and how they're  treated by evil corporations then it is to start their own business. Taking responsibility for change is a lot of work for some. So much work in fact that they keep doing what they hate and point fingers at others for their lot in life.

I know a guy who came here in his 30's with $100 in his pocket and homeless (not to mention he was a minority). He didn't know anyone when he arrived.

He didn't spend his days bitching about "the man".  He eventually got a job washing dishes at a restaurant.  Now he owns 10 Fed Ex trucks and is starting an insurance agency.

I am not arguing that it is possible. It is not possible for everyone. I know someone who was in management for a pretty large company. He went to a training seminar once where they said to keep labor hungry. It keeps them coming to work. :(

No, not me, I was born here.

I met an interesting person yesterday, a Somali, (yes, I know but this one's different) he owns 6 trucks, speaks English quite well and came to this country 15 years ago with nothing more than himself. He truly is an example of what can be achieved with hard work. He wants to add 4 more trucks this year and what I found hilarious is that he doesn't want to hire any Somalis, only white men (he said it, not me)

Not possible for everyone? Bullsh!t! But suppose not everyone gets to go home and boink the prom queen.

Yes, the rich have been getting richer, a rising stock market does that. So Buster's had over 6 years to improve the working man's plight and all he done is to make the rich richer

All Buster's been able to do is flap his gums and have agencies put out "fluffy" numbers.

Wait now, what exactly did Reagan, Bush, and Bush do for the working man.
Once again, you miss the point. It is absolutely correct that anyone can be successful. I am happy for you. What is not possible is for everyone to start up their own business and succeed. What value would that put on your business if there was twenty of the same on one block? It would be a collapse of everyone.
This still does not condone keeping the labor force at low wage and benefit.

While I believe and would defend a persons right to protest against the government (whether Fedral, State, or Local), it should be done at a government or public place, not in front of a private residence in a neighborhood whether it was the right house or not.  There is a proper place for such protest.

True herd mentality.

There is nothing wrong with this thinking but myself and and many others choose to be a bit more independent, to not live like sheep.

The unions had their time, many years ago. OSHA and wage laws have ensured a safe work place and a minimum wage. If one thinks their is a hazard at their place of work they can call OSHA. If they're not happy with minimum wage(and unless you're fresh out of high school you're making more) they're free to pursue other avenues of work.

But I can't figure out why I would have someone negotiate for me when I'm perfectly able to do it myself.

Before anyone says you need homeowners insurance that is only if your lender requires it.  Even then, you are choosing to purchase a home from a lender that requires it.

Employees have a choice when they vote to have union representation, people applying for work have a choice of whether they want to apply at those places or the ones that are non-union.  Seems like there's lots of choices, you just don't like certain ones.

Did the business owners have a choice in allowing unions to organize in their place of business?  After all...we are talking about choices right?  Or is that one of those choices you would disagree with.?.

Yes.  But driving a car is a choice.

And technically you could still drive without it.  It would be illegal but you still could drive an uninsured car.

Ah, independent. A belief now much relegated in corner of one's mind. But that's okay. Freedom of religion is our right.

It's interesting to watch libertarians speak of "independence" while many, I suspect, voluntarily participate in capitalist social safety nets like 401ks, IRAs,  buy stocks(another form of social capitalism) in corporations, purchase products originating in quasi-fascist/communist/capitalist corrupt countries(but never buy union!!). It reminds one of those coming to this country seeking political asylum, jobs, education, safe communities...and then end up sending money back to dysfunctional corrupt society they fled.

I worked as an "independent" sub-contractor for over 20 yrs. It was tough work but nice. Then some tight @ss new manager thought cheap labor was better. I never belonged to a union and never will. But the alternatives can be seen overseas, and now in this country---stagnant wages, cuts to pensions & health care, and a few elitists owning 40% of this country's wealth.

Anyone yet truly independent won't be for long.

I'm 54 years young and I have been raised as an independent and have worked as an independent near all of my life. My "religeon"is capitalism, I practice and preach it everyday. I invest in my equipment and I invest in my retirement. "I" not anyone else's. I hire an investment expert to do this for me. I hire an accountant to keep records and file taxes.

"I" am an independent.

Sure I have people I'm accountable to, customers but we are in agreement as to what services are performed, if not, we don't do business. Any and All contracts can end at anytime, they have and will again, it's the nature of the beast.

My business is not large but it is mine and I live or die by it financially.it's tough work and sometimes long hours and sometimes I don't get paid for my work but I've learned to finesse the system, I've learned the little nuances and most of the time the rewards are quite handsome.

You sound very bitter that you no longer a contractor, maybe you should look at going back to it. I'm gonna take a guess the you are a programmer, fine work and there is plenty of work out there. I know this because I have a very close friend who's been doing this and he's done quit well for himself.

Now who's picking and choosing.  Leave it up to the business owner to decide if a his business should be unionized and I will side with your argument gman.

I have to admit, I thought like SB does for many a year. Even in my most recent job, everyone complains that they don't make enough. Their base wage has not increased since they were hired. I am the only one there making significantly more than they are. Why? Two reasons: I take on much more responsibility, and I asked for raises here and there. When I explain this to my co-workers, they look at me as though I started speaking in some alien tongue.

I am my own union.

< Wisconsin judge declines to block new right-to-work law >

Madison — A judge on Thursday declined to block Wisconsin's new right-to-work law, allowing it to remain in effect while a union lawsuit challenging the statute proceeds.

Dane County Circuit Judge William Foust rejected the request by three unions to grant a temporary injunction blocking the law from being enforced pending the outcome of their legal challenge.

Right-to-work laws prohibit businesses and unions from reaching agreements that require all workers, not just union members, to pay union dues. Twenty-four states other states also have such statutes.

The Wisconsin AFL-CIO, Machinists Local Lodge 1061 in Milwaukee and United Steelworkers District 2 in Menasha say the law amounts to an unconstitutional seizure of union property, since unions now must extend benefits to workers who don't pay dues.

State attorneys say the law is constitutional since it doesn't technically remove a single penny from union accounts. Last year the Indiana Supreme Court rejected two nearly identical challenges to that state's right-to-work law. Those lawsuits alleged that the law unconstitutionally required unions to provide services to nonunion workers without compensation.

Right-to-work supporters say the law gives workers the freedom to choose whether to join a union. Opponents say the law will weaken unions by depriving them of the dues from workers who choose not to pay them, and that this will result in lower wages and fewer employee rights. They say the Republican-backed law is intended to undermine unions' political power because unions tend to vote Democrat.

Republican Gov. Scott Walker, a likely 2016 presidential candidate who made a name for himself by curbing public unions' collective bargaining powers in 2011, signed the right-to-work law on March 9. He initially said he didn't want to pursue, but he quickly signed it after the GOP-led Legislature introduced the measure and passed it within just two weeks.

< House votes to kill federal rule to streamline union organizing -- Steve Scalise calls it 'ambush elections' >

WASHINGTON -- The Republican-controlled House Thursday (March 19) approved legislation that would repeal a National Labor Relations Board rule to streamline union efforts to represent employees.

The vote was 232-186, with all 183 Democrats and three Republicans voting no. The bill has already passed the Republican-led Senate, and is headed to the White House, where it is expected to be vetoed by President Barack Obama.

The rule, targeted by the Republican legislation, speeds the process in which unions attempt to represent employees and requires businesses targeted for unionization efforts to provide, when available, emails and telephone numbers for workers.

Rep. John Kline, R-Minn., chair of the House Education and Workforce Committee, said the new rule would make it harder for employers to communicate with workers and would so rush the union organizing efforts as to make it hard for workers to properly consider their options.

"Today, Congress voted to stop an unelected board of bureaucrats from trampling on the rights of America's workers and job creators," Kline said. "The board's ambush election rule will stifle employer free speech, cripple worker free choice, and jeopardize the privacy of workers and their families."

QUOTE
"Walker Criminal Probe to Be "Heard" in Silence
The Wisconsin Supreme Court is slated to take up the "John Doe" criminal investigation of alleged coordination between Friends of Scott Walker and "independent" groups during the tumultuous 2011-2012 recall elections.

The Center for Media and Democracy (CMD) has detailed the bipartisan state investigation into the Walker campaign and the secretive big money groups that bankrolled his 2012 recall victory. Wisconsin Club for Growth (WiCFG), headed by Walker campaign manager R.J. Johnson and the “third Koch Brother” Eric O’Keefe, spent at least $9.1 million on Wisconsin's unprecedented recall elections, and funneled almost $10 million more to other politically-active groups, including Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce. Yet, WiCFG, which enjoys tax free status, told the IRS that it spent $0 in political activity during that period.

Prosecutors allege that Walker secretly raised millions for WiCFG from out-of-state donors like Donald Trump and Paul Singer, and allegedly coordinated with WiCFG in order to evade Wisconsin's donor disclosure laws. Talking points prepared for the governor advised him to "stress that donations to WiCFG are not disclosed," and to tell donors "that you can accept corporate contributions and it is not reported."

These dark money schemes left voters completely in the dark about who was truly influencing elections in the state, CMD argued in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Wisconsinites never knew that a Florida-based mining company lobbying for a massive open pit mine in Wisconsin secretly gave $700,000 to WiCFG, nor did they know that John Menard gave $1.5 million to the group, and in turn received at least $1.8 million in tax credits from Walker's job development agency.

The investigation has been halted by a passel of lawyers hired by the groups under investigation and its fate now rests with the Wisconsin's Supreme Court.

In an unprecedented move, the court's right-wing majority decided not to hear oral arguments, in order to protect the defendants against leaks, over the strong objections of the Chief Justice."

The two states, neighbors and rivals, provide an excellent dichotomy of the stark differences between Republican and Democratic rule. Both Walker and Dayton were elected in 2010, and the results of their management speak for themselves. “In 2010, both Wisconsin and Minnesota faced similar budget woes and a worrisome economic future amid a national recession. Both are also Midwest states, deeply invested in manufacturing and agricultural economic drivers…Only one governor was successful.”

The differences couldn’t be clearer. Two states, two governors. One red, and one blue. One has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of all of his citizens, healed a recession-ravaged economy and turned it into a bustling powerhouse. The other has driven his state into the ground, and unabashedly told his citizens to tighten their belts while giving millions of tax breaks to the biggest corporations and the wealthiest citizens.

Wisconsin’s Governor has taken a page from the traditional Republican Play-book “Trickle Down Economics” it’s played out chapter and verse as it always does, an epic fail! It’s far past time America recognized this and stop letting the Republican Party drag our nation into the mire.

Any state you run though BLS will show a similar graph spike coming out of Bush’s Great Recession!
Wisconsin has trailed the national average in private-sector job growth since six months after Walker took office.
He fell short of a signature campaign promise to create 250,000 private-sector jobs, Wisconsin ranked 40th nationwide in private-sector job growth in the 12-month period ending in September.

We know Expat wouldn't put up with a local business overcharging him.  So you have to ask yourself why he and his friends would put up with it from the government...not only put up with it, but support it.

And as if Governor Dayton isn't greedy enough, he wants to raise gas taxes which will have a direct impact on the poor and middle class in this state.

Why are sales taxes on business equipment subsidizing home owners in the first place?  And why do local governments shift the burden to the homeowners?  Surely they have pork in their budgets. Many things they could do without I'm sure. Shocking concept, I know.

^^Detroit problems are more to do with Corporate malfeasance, unions have no real control over boardroom decisions to move production to Mexico or China!

Western capitalism is at a fail point when we let Corporations Detroit our cities, the market economy has become dysfunctional when labor holds no value.
When Corporations disenfranchise large sectors of our population, these people will eventually become advocates for more-extreme change, and we as a country will experience significant social upheaval.

"For that some should rule and others be ruled is a thing not only necessary, but expedient; from the hour of their birth, some are marked out for subjection, others for rule..."

Aristotle, Politics

"And indeed the use made of slaves and of tame animals is not very different; for both with their bodies minister to the needs of life."

Aristotle, Politics

"...nature herself intimates that it is just for the better to have more than the worse, the more powerful than the weaker; and in many ways she shows, among men as well as among animals, and indeed among whole cities and races, that justice consists in the superior ruling over and having more than the inferior."

Plato, Gorgias

"Slaves, be obedient to the men who are called your masters in this world, with deep respect and sincere loyalty, as you are obedient to Christ: not only when you are under their eye, as if you had only to please men, but because you are slaves of Christ and wholeheartedly do the will of God. Work hard and willingly, but do it for the sake of the Lord and not for the sake of men. You can be sure that everyone, wether a slave or a free man, will be properly rewarded by the Lord for whatever work he has done well. And those of you who are employers, treat your slaves in the same spirit; remembering that they and you have the same Master in heaven and he is not impressed by one person more than another."

ST PAUL: Letter to the Ephesians, 6,5-9

"The prime cause, then, of slavery is sin, which brings man under the dominion of his fellow -- that which does not happen save by the judgment of God, with whom is no unrighteousness, and who knows how to award fit punishments to every variety of offence."

St Augustine, The City of God, 19:15

It is little wonder modern day elites(and local wanna-bes) claiming moral/intellectual/spiritual authority are able to rationalize the subjugation of the "inferior" working-class. They have history's "great thinkers" covering their back.

Most union workers receive benefits, health and retirement that far exceed their nonunion brethren.
While it’s true you pay dues, they're relatively cheap when compared to the add compensation and benefits.

We'll play a wait and see game in Missouri on RTW legislation.  The democrats have been stalling  this out.

QUOTE
< Missouri Senate shuts down debate to pass 'right-to-work' >

JEFFERSON CITY • Missouri Senate Republicans shut down debate Tuesday to pass a “right-to-work” measure after Democrats filibustered the bill for more than eight hours.

In return, Senate Democrats plan to shut down everything else until the session ends at 6 p.m. Friday.

The Republicans “are the ones who chose the nuclear option,” said Sen. Scott Sifton, D-St. Louis County. The rare measure to shut down debate, known as the previous question, has been used in the Senate only 14 times since 1970. It’s often used in the House.

The Senate’s vote of 21-13 to pass the measure, which would bar unions statewide from collecting fees from nonunion members, means Democrats will make the passage of a bill renewing health care provider taxes very complicated. Those taxes are used to draw matching payments from the federal government for the state’s Medicaid program.

Sifton said Gov. Jay Nixon could call a special session to pass the renewal measure, but bill handler Sen. Dan Brown, R-Rolla, noted that a Republican could stall the vote on the measure just like Democrats did Tuesday on right-to-work.

“I think the Democrats do see we need to do” the tax renewal, Brown said. “It’s not to their advantage to blow it up now.”

The right-to-work measure now heads back to the House, where a similar measure passed 91-64 in February. Both the House and the Senate are shy of the amount needed to override a veto from Nixon — 109 votes in the House and 23 in the Senate. Nixon has said he opposes right-to-work.

Any differences between the House and Senate versions of the bill must be reconciled before it is shipped to Nixon’s desk.

Raise the boat?  Labor unions don't do that anymore.  Today's labor unions are more about the bosses and less about the laborer.  Labor unions may claim to favor democracy, but it's all about big labor.  The biggest problem is once you let a union move in, it's easier to get rid of genital warts than the big money hungry bosses.

But don't worry all you brain-washed union sympathizers.  If the union was already in place when you went to work for your company, you can expunge them.  It's called de-authorization.

Wisconsin ranks 35th for job creation over Walker’s first term

With Gov. Scott Walker's economic credentials sure to be an issue among prospective 2016 Republican presidential candidates, Wisconsin ranked 35th overall in the nation in private-sector job creation during his first full term as governor, new government statistics show.

From 2011 through 2014, the United States posted a 9.3% total gain in private-sector jobs, while Wisconsin registered a 5.7% increase, according to employment numbers released Wednesday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The figures, based on a quarterly census of American employers, are the most accurate numbers available.

The four-year period coincides with nearly all of the employment recovery following the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.

By the end of 2014, at the end of Walker's first term, Wisconsin had failed to return to its pre-recession employment peak even as the United States as a whole had surpassed its pre-recession levels. In December 2014, Wisconsin had 2,400,139 private-sector jobs, still shy of its 2,453,887 jobs in June 2007, before the economy began to crash. By contrast, the nation exceeded its pre-recession employment peak, with 117.7 million jobs in December 2014 versus 115.5 million in June 2007.

Plan to curtail public records laws sparks uproar
Under these measures, lawmakers would be able to draft bills in secret and hide their communications from the public. The changes would also apply to local government officials, including school board members.

No other state in the country would have similar statutes, according to the Legislative Reference Bureau, a nonpartisan agency that helps legislators draft law

"[...]remove the required 24-hour rest period in a 7-day work week[...]"

Who the Hell does that even benefit?

People that support this kind of Dickensian BS need to be throat punched. :brick:

here’s another example of the party that hates big government, using big government to suppress citizens in Wisconsin
to oblige their Corporate owners.

I have to agree partly on this one, we should spend absolutely no public money at all on professional sports.

Two things though, the money for the higher education most likely would have not lowered tuition and ended up in Union instructors pockets.

The bill received votes from both sides.

So now pro-immigration groups are using little kids as props to try and set up GOP candidates?

< Scott Walker is ‘impressive’ during manufactured confrontation with illegal immigrant in Iowa >

It's real easy.  < Just follow the law. >  In other words, the guy is here illegally, then start having kids.  Nice.

"It seemed"?  No, I never once said a negative thing about Reagan's age.  The mental state of any candidate is important, but that's true regardless of age.  Some criticized the age of Bob Dole or John McCain when they ran for President, but I wasn't one of them.

If you didn't have a problem with Reagan's age why are you making it an issue when it comes to Clinton?  There seems to be a double standard there.

What ever amount of respect I had for Scott Walker has flown out the window.   Did he really say we need to build a wall between us and Canada?  God help us from idiots!!

Please Mr. Walker drop out now before you become a complete laughing stock.

Note: We really could use a "face palm" emoticon for the site.

Well sh!t, he was a good dog for awhile, but in this climate, in this kind of game, I guess it's time to take ol' shep for that walk in the woods, metaphorically.

Well, one falls, many to take his place, things could be worse, ' could be a dem, pinning hopes on a incompetent crook or a frothing old nutjob.

While not a emoticon, here you go Marneman, best I could do.

Here you go SB. Help your little turd friend out.

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker says he's "thrifty" and is offering T-shirts for craft projects while asking donors to help pay off the $1.2 million debt from his short-lived presidential campaign.

The Republican sent an email to donors Sunday saying, "if there is one thing the American people learned about me during our presidential campaign, it is that I am thrifty." He cites his use of coupons and shopping at sales racks.

The email doesn't mention more than $90,000 a day was spent on his 70-day presidential run.

Walker's email says anyone who donates $45 will receive a campaign T-shirt, but size and color requests won't be honored because of a lack of resources.

Walker says the shirts can be framed or used for "crafty things" like a pillow or bag.
   Buy enough for all your family...
