My early favorite is Walker. Second favorite is Rubio. I have a lot of other favorites for different reasons but Walker tops my list at this time.

My choice is Rand Paul followed closely by Ben Carstens, though I'm pretty sure it'll never happen :(

I like Walker though.

It appears Ben is surging in the polls a little.  Of course there are those not doing so good also.

Stroke lady's toast, Sanders is a nutjob and Biden is a bad joke. The other side? Anywhere from smart as can be to terrorizing.

Funny thing is, the real Bernie was dead guy being puppeted like he was alive...
..come to think it, it wouldn't be much different then the last 16 years...

Posted by Expatriate on Sep. 12 2015,4:51 pm
^nah, Terry Kiser (Bernie Lomax) was never really dead, it was a movie. On the other hand Bernie Sanders is alive and well, and may damn well be the next President..

I thought the first 45 minutes or so were a waste of time as Tapper did his best to try to start a brawl between the candidates with little avail.  As Governor John Kasich said, "If I was home watching this, I'd be inclined to turn it off."  I fully understand what he meant.  Tapper did what was probably the best he could to turn it into a wolf pack trying to devour Trump.  The candidates didn't take his bait much.  CNN's whole line of questioning was aimed at attacking Trump and it was hard for any debate with good answers to even be done.

Piss poor moderating from what I could see.  At least the candidates overpowered Tapper and talked over him for some substance.  Trouble with that was several got little speaking time because of his poor refereeing.  Carson, Kasich and Huckabee were heard from very little.

CNN made this debate very disappointing.

Posted by Self-Banished on Sep. 17 2015,3:06 pm
Yeah I rolled over and fell asleep after about 15-20 then I watched the highlights later. Fiorina sounded good, Carson needs work on projection.
Posted by Expatriate on Sep. 17 2015,3:14 pm
Too many candidates on stage, too few issues debated..

Posted by stardust14 on Sep. 17 2015,3:39 pm
A debate designed for conservatives, inbreds, and masochists. When converted to binary---all zeros.
Posted by Self-Banished on Sep. 17 2015,3:39 pm
so when's the dem debate?

Or are they waiting for a viable candidate?

I dunno, but I've heard < DNC Accused of Rigging Debate Schedule to Benefit Hillary Clinton > but that is likely old news.  I have heard that the < kinky lady > in much behind the delays, but I think the < pressure is on >.

@expat (Too many candidates on stage, too few issues debated.) I agree, but as for the last debate, it's on CNN for not keeping it to the current top 10 debaters and not controlling the debate and keeping to good questions.  I heard close to 50% of the questions were directed to or at Trump.  That's no way to debate with a group.

Posted by stardust14 on Sep. 17 2015,10:10 pm
Didn't watch the debate. The clip showing Trump and Carly debating their lack of business managing skills was telling. To them life is a set of numbers, numbers prefixed with $$$$$$.

No lack of chickenhawks on stage.

Why did the chickenhawk cross the road? He didn't. He was too scared so he sends our kids instead.

Posted by Self-Banished on Sep. 18 2015,5:10 am
^^as with the dem debate(whenever that happens) there won't be a soul that has actually held a real job in there life.
Posted by stardust14 on Sep. 18 2015,10:39 pm
^^^Why in America do workng class voters then elect cheese puffs? I'd prefer candidates with an honest work history. There are some "working" candidates out there running but they are so obscur and ignored by everyone. Idiot voters like celebrities. A reflection of their alter ego.
Posted by Self-Banished on Sep. 19 2015,5:12 am
^^ you mean like our present POTUS? He is pretty cheesy. With that smile of his maybe he can replace Chester in Jan 2017.

Stroke lady's never held a real job except for Rose law firm and the only reason she got that was because Willy got elected AG of Arkansas.

Sanders only outside job was a carpenter in a commune, laughable.

The Repubs are full of gov tit suckers too but there are a few that stand out with real life work experience.

Carson, hell of a story, raised in poverty, large family and becomes a world renowned surgeon. (damn! I was he spoke better!)

Fiorina, goes from secretary to CEO of a Fortune 500 company, one of the first women to do so.

Rand Paul, eye doctor, really out there on the fringe though.

And then we have Trump, scary as hell, vague as they come but has the marketing expertise to pull out front. Is this where we're at? Questionable substance but who's got the best marketing plan. :(

I do like his union stance though.ki

I would have to say the Dem's have come out as anti union as well with their opposition to Keystone.  Throwing away a lot of union jobs (construction workers, steel producers, and our fellow Minnesotans on da Range - iron miners).
Posted by Expatriate on Sep. 24 2015,10:57 am
^^I would think the XL Keystone pipeline a mute issue, the break even point is big dollars on a barrel.
This stuff isn’t called tar sands for nothing, you have to heat this stuff to 150 degrees and keep it heat throughout the length of the pipeline, increasing the cost.

The Iranian oil is hitting the world market, I doubt Canadian tar sands will be profitable for some time.
I believe this is why we’re seeing such an uproar in the Republican Party over the Iran deal, they’d love to keep the embargo going keeping prices and profits high for the benefit of their true constituents.

That's where we are. A group of self-inflated half-blind salesmen, whether Insiders or not.

To the public's amazement there are other pres candidates  outside these well known names. We will never know if these unknowns are intelligent common sense well-rooted people we could trust. When the pool of potential candidates is limited to very wealthy well-known fast talking schleps with a political/corporate carreer in mind...this is what scum surfaces. Just like on american idol.

Union jobs that add to the destruction of our environment have the same result as Chinese slave labor.

Priorities must be established.

^^ your memory is about as short as you thought process. It wasn't that long ago that we were at $120 oil. The reason for the pipeline is national security.

Any little incident, any uprising and we're back to $100+ oil.

Posted by Expatriate on Sep. 24 2015,1:31 pm
If that’s the case “National Security”as you suggest why did Republicans unanimously rejected an amendment introduced by Sen. Edward Markey (D-MA) and Sen Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) that would have required keeping the pipeline oil in the United States for domestic use??
Posted by Self-Banished on Sep. 24 2015,5:08 pm
I highly doubt it was that simple.

Were you one of the people chanting "drill baby, drill" right before the Deepwater Horizon disaster turned the Gulf black?  The XL phase isn't about our national interest anymore than the mess that BP and Halliburton left us with, once again it has more to do with the bottom-line of a foreign oil company who wants to gamble with our natural resources.

We're drilling our own wells on American land everyday in this country, and we didn't need an oil man like Bush or an XL phase pumping Canadian tar sands to do it.  We're already a net exporter for the first time in over 50 years.

Posted by was1 on Sep. 25 2015,7:55 am
Net exporter?  Really?  Better check your facts on that.  We still import a huge amount of oil, and our exports are very limited per law.

"We're drilling our own wells on American land everyday..."  Really?  Better check your facts on that as well.  Oil rig count has been going down for many months with the drop in oil.

Even though the tar sands oils are challangeing, I would rather we have first shot at them than CN shipping them to China.  At least we have environmental controls in place here for their movement, refining, and use.

I think if more Americans were better informed on the really big issues facing us, they might decide that the biggest threat to our national security (when it comes to energy/fuel) is for us to continue being an energy/fuel glutton.
Jobs and cheap gas will be realized to be unbelievably ridiculous concerns when our water problems hit critical.
Things can't keep going the way they are. One way or another, things are going to change.

Fat-cat climate change denying chickenhawks send our kids to fight their ill-conceived energy wars around the globe. Who will be the fall-guys in the water wars---landowners? citizens with private wells?

As an escape from energy wars at least we have renewables as alternative. De-toxiing our fresh water, de-salinizing salt water is hugely expensive.

Water rights was/is a big issue with ranchers, etc out west. Strangely California is once again dealing with issues yet to come in other areas. Aquafers are diminishing in many areas, including MN. Vast amounts of water, once destined for aquafers, is being tiled, ditched away down river. Industry pumps out huge quantities, much of it wasted.

When aquafers run dry or are contaminated by industry we're in big trouble.

We found signs of water on Mars. Can't seem to manage the giver of life all around us.
