This guy let the flax seed and sprouts go to his brain. Let's not over expand Broadway, but don't drop a lane for bike lanes and parking on BOTH sides.

How about focusing on building up the south side of town with business to drive to before we listen to Benny Bicycle.

What are we paying this guy for his world renown opinion.  Where is the truck traffic that comes through town going to be diverted?  I also noted that they had to replace a lot of buildings to get the round-a-bout to fit, so how long will it take to get those shiny new replacement buildings built, and what will be going in them?  I know it is only money, and being it is government tax moneys we are talking about, why hell it is almost like getting it for free!  :soapbox:

This Blue zone cool-aid drinking needs to end, how many ideas from the outside do we need.  Why do we continue to take working great somewhere else pipedreams and try to apply to Albert Lea?  I hate being negative but come on we have bigger issues than bike lanes and roundabouts.  Get some buildings filled, and jobs created to bring people in. We are all getting tired of the we can be like this or build it and they will come attitude.

Really it's indicative of the times we live in. We live in a dazzle bling oriented society now. Everything is pretty much done with a build it and they will come mentality or variant thereof.

The excessive amount of flower pots and benches that were added to the infrastructure updating downtown. Remind me of the canteen lip-balm scene. In the movie The Three Amigos. lol

A couple of things about that intersection -

1. The crosswalk doesn't seem to be defined very clearly. (The paver one)

2. It can be be problematic trying to gain access to downtown coming from the south going north. I'd always heard the left lane is supposed to be a turn lane and the right is to go through to the downtown area. But a great deal of the time you wind up playing a game of chicken with a person who goes straight from the left lane.

Point being - It's already not that great there already. Part of me thinks it would better blocked off right there altogether. Perhaps expand on the downtown mall motif.

One way perhaps of getting an idea like this to vanish. Might be to make its implementation contingent upon the bank and the antique store upgrading their facilities to match their representation in the artist's rendition there.
