Well their at it again in DC.  First the FAA starts furloughing air traffic controllers and the media starts hyping all the travel delays caused by this.  Then the Senate passes a bill to fully fund the FAA and return the controllers to their jobs. The House threw them a curve, though,  by also approving it saying that the American people shouldn't be punished because of the President short sightedness (He of course was hoping they wouldn't pass it so he could put more blame on the Republicans).   Nice to know that at least some of the people in our capital are looking out for us (U.S.)

...or are they making sure that they are not delayed after adjournment?

Air traffic controllers, this is one of the biggest corporate subsidies out there, why should the taxpayer subsidize the airlines, shouldn’t the cost of tickets reflect the true price of air travel.

^ Very good point Expat, aren't there a lot of other things that are subsidized?  Light rail and public bus lines come to mind. I'm sure freeborn county has some sort of subsidized transportation.

How about food, milk is subsidized, farmers for decades have been suckling at the gov. teat.

I couldn't agree more, let's end all subsidies. :D

Couldn't agree more.  The Department of Agriculture needs to be cut off at the knees as well as Amtrack and the auto industry.  Don't forget the ethanol, wind energy as well as solar powers.

Wow 'Dog, Expat sure nailed on the head here.

Death to subsidies!

I wonder what the price of an airline ticket would be if the airlines provide air traffic control? 3x, 4x at least? I'm sure they would love to collect another "fee".

If you want to see Ag subsidies take a look at this web site: < http://farm.ewg.org/farm/ >

I was amazed at how much the local farmers have drawn in the last few years.

I've seen that site, there are a few of them there I know, I've lost so much if not all respect for these farmers.

Gary Pestorius (Sunset Farms) is a contributor to Sen. Norm Coleman's re-election effort, as well as a PAC that contributes to Peterson's and Oberstar's campaign. He's chairman of a company that runs an ethanol plant. Dawn Pestorius is also a Coleman contributor.

Looks like he has a double edged sword.   :dunce:

Contributions to Republicans: $5,550.00

Contributions to Democrats: $7,700.00

Which ever way the wind blows.

Did you even read the article gear-jammer? Klobuchar tried to put the kibosh on farm subsidies the Republicans blocked her!

My Surname appears in the top 20 on the farm welfare subsidies list in freeborn county, I have NO interest in the farm, I’m a black sheep, a Democrat/union member, the vast majority of the names on the subsidies list are hardcore Republicans.

Posted by Self-Banished on Apr. 30 2013,11:48 am
And you are trying to say that all republicans are conservative? :dunce:

Yes yes yes, let's throw poor Amy a bone.
