We all know why N. Korea is rattling their sabers and beating their drums.  I have to admit I am not that worried about it.

We do not need to take out the whole country, just the little fool in power. A smart bomb in his corn flakes should take care of it.

I'd be happy if we'd send them a "get well" card and be done with it.

I wish I could say I'm not worried about it, but given how easy it's been for us to get involved militarily, it's hard to be optimistic.

Biggest concern is with how many troops we have there it's pretty easy for us to wind up at war if there's a provocation.  Or, the appearance of a provocation (i.e. "Remember the Maine", Gulf of Tonkin, etc.).

Is there a decent reason we're still agreeing to defend Japan, South Korea, and numerous other Asian countries?

Cant find a reason to disagree with your thought process here IE.
The last thing we need or can afford is another military involvement.
