i stopped by the library this am & the culligan water truck pulled up & off loaded 4 large bottles of drinking water.is not the city water good enough for the city employees to drink? if it is not perhaps they should also provide the bottled water to every household as well! I was going to type that maybe they don't have running water inside the library (besides the restroom), so it would be cheaper than plumbling a water line in there - but realized there is a drinking fountain RIGHT OUTSIDE THE DOOR.Good catch, usmcr. Posted by MADDOG on Jul. 27 2011,1:02 pm
Liberal caught this a long time ago.< What's wrong with our tap water?, Why aren't they drinking it? > Posted by Stone-Magnon on Jul. 27 2011,1:30 pm
Again you people just don't seem to grasp reality. They get Culligan water because they are more privileged than you and I. They are better people and thus get the good water. The little people chip in so the higher ups can enjoy...get the picture? Now give Rhonda Mowens husband another free gift and shut your little mouths! I've worked in offices where the emloyees all pooled there own $ for bottled water and coffee. Any chance this is the case?

Do you really think of that as a possibility?

(Blackdog @ Jul. 27 2011,3:04 pm) QUOTE Wow You all even bitch about water people drink Grow the HELL UP!!!!! Hey f#cktard if that water is being paid for by MY tax dollars I am going to bitch. I cannot afford to pay for Culligan and I d@mn sure know the city is not in a good enough financial situation that they should be paying for an unnecessary expense like Culligan. City water is free Culligan is not. Pantalones if it were being used for coffee or tea they can buy gallon jugs of it at Walmart or Hy-Vee at a cheaper price than Culligan. Government workers don't care, they are out to take as much as they can get. It's culture in an institution that spends other peoples money on themselves. No one in the system has an incentive to save but they have every incentive to take. It's why Rome fell.

Liberal posted in 2007:< http://www.albertlea.com/cgi-bin...d+water > using his figures & adjusting for inflation @ $400 per month - 5 years would be about $24,000! that might not seem like a lot of money to some but for something that is available for free it seems like a luxury that could be done with out. how about it mr. mayor, councilmen & woman are you ready to go with out it? this might not seem like much of a big deal but by starting here it could lead to other unnecessary expenses that could be eliminated as well! it will also send a statement to the citizens of albert lea that what is good enough for them is good enough for the city employees! considering that this has been going on for awhile i wonder how this would have escaped the budget scrutiny as an unnecessary expense. People in government positions (elected, appointed, or hired) need to remember where the money they spend comes from. It comes from the pockets of you, me and them. In these times when jobs are scarce, houses are empty, everyone needs to do some serious evaluation about what is a NEED and what is a WANT.NEEDS are food, water, roof over your head, and heat and lights. After that anything else is a WANT. Bottled water is nice but it not a NEED, tap water is fine, it fulfills the need category nicely. Once the government type realize this everything will be much better. I will stop at this point as I can go on and on about the govt waste that I see. Posted by MADDOG on Jul. 29 2011,3:25 pm
OK, here's the ideal way to handle this. I doubt any of you have the kahunas to do it, but each one of you have the right. The next time you are going to bring a couple empty gallon jugs to the grocery store to refill with water, take them to city hall and fill them from their dispensers. If you're approached and told you can't do that, let them know that you have been paying for their bottled water for a long time and you have just as much right to it as they do. Anyone? TO BAD ROGER BOK IS GONE
Posted by MADDOG on Jul. 29 2011,4:13 pm
Why? Are you saying that Roger had big enough kahunas to do that or that you don't?

Why don't YOU do it MD. It would be funny to see you squirm when you get arrested for theft when a worker complains.

I don't know about you Sybil but me thinks that he won't do it because if you had been paying attention in class...MD DOES NOT LIVE WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS. Hence it's not really his problem. Well the last I knew he did not. He might have moved. Posted by MADDOG on Jul. 29 2011,10:27 pm

How do you give government the incentive to save? You do it like David Lee Roth would. They the (government workers) get a cut of the savings You be AMAZED at the cuttings that can be made. If instead of spending $24,000 thousand every few years for Culligan water we GIVE the workers $6000 to be split among them every few years to do without it! Look at the way things have turned out. You had Mr. & Mrs. Moan in bed with the city manager. You had shifty behind the scenes goings on left and right. The surreptitious diversion of funds to fund the "finance" managers little project. The ill conceived and implemented credit card debacle.Just to name a couple. Anybody who has been following along knows there was more than that as well. The way I see it he was right. None of the people at the council meetings were/are worthy of any decent persons respect anyway. Posted by hymiebravo on Aug. 03 2011,7:45 pm
I think he kept things down to earth. IMO He pointed out how they couldn't handle some of the little simple things. Which should give anyone pause about their ability to handle bigger things. You know like how to set up a credit card system. . . or use the city's bonding capacity to give your friend the finance manager and her hubby over a million dollars to play around with. lol |
