Have witnessed some pretty laid back City Employees lately. Coffee breaks at Nelsons, long lunches, lots of trucks being leisurely driven around. Even followed one. All I can say is wow. Now, I'm sure these guys do put in some long hot days. Just an observation.5 guys standing around a man hole cover? End of rant!

First, no way connected to the city, for the manhole we're talking confined space, if you lose a man down that hole no-matter what safety precautions taken it can take some manpower to get him out of that hole before he dies. Even if you see a tripod above the hole you're better off overmanned than undermanned.

We've seen some real hot weather, heatstroke is a concern.

During last September's flood they did a great job! Not to defend these guys completely, Called them about a plugged storm drain got a drive-by 24 hours later, (water had slowly drained) they didn't even bother to get out of the truck! The next day pulled the grate off the drain myself, cleaned it, the tile going to the main storm drain was completely blocked...
