How appropriate.

In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, the Treasury Secretary says a woman will replace Alexander Hamilton on the $10 bill.  Hamilton, one of the most influential promoter of the Constitution and ironically, the first Treasury Secretary is going to be replaced.  What womanly figure will replace one of our founding fathers?

Hillary?

^^What has she done to deserve an honor such as this :dunno:

Eleanor Roosevelt was an American politician, diplomat, and activist. She was the longest-serving First Lady of the United States.

Harriet Tubman risked her life helping slaves escape via the Underground Railroad. She is far more deserving than Eleanor Roosevelt.

Hillary is ineligible because we do not put living people onto U.S. currency.

My GRANDMOTHER should be on there. She delivered food to the "old people" when she was 89 years old. She gave her license up at 89 and told me, " there are just too many crazy drivers out there!" She died when she was 98, right before her birthday. God bless! Love you Granma!

She has until 2020.  That would give her a couple more years.  :sarcasm:

When did it become popular to defend Alexander Hamilton?  I thought the conservatives hated Hamilton.   :dunno:

Hmmmm, I don't think I've seen a post defending Hamilton. Premature criticism.

^Definition of defend.
< Dictionary.com >  "to attempt to retain (a championship title, position, etc.), as in a competition against a challenger."
< Mirrium Webster - Defend >  "to keep (something, such as a right, interest, cause, etc.) from being taken away."

I don't think anyone is defending Hamilton so much as they are fighting against changing the status quo. It wouldn't matter who was on the $10 bill.

Right or wrong, some people view changing it to a woman is little more than a politically correct "feel-good" measure designed to placate at the very least women, and at the most, minority women.

Personally, it matters little to me whose face appears on our currency. Having a woman, minority or otherwise, appear on the $10 bill is of little consequence, and the 100-year anniversary of the 19th Amendment is a fitting occasion for such a measure. It wouldn't be the first time the Mint has changed who appears on our money, and it won't be the last.

Who knows? It might be a limited run before they return to Hamilton. If that is the case, collectors will take most of them out of circulation anyway.

Nope, didn't see were anyone defended Hamilton, there was mention of females to put on the bill with certain remarks, no one said that they shouldn't thus defending.

A bit sensitive are we?

Bingo!  It would be one thing if the Treasury announced that they were going to replace Hamilton on the $10 bill and were looking for someone to fill his shoes.  Man or woman.  It wold be another if they had determined that a woman had risen above the level to justify it.  But to just announce that they are going to replace him with a woman and are currently looking for candidates is way too politically correct.

At the begining of this year they were talking about replacing Jackson on the twenty with a woman, now it's Hamilton on the ten!  What's next replacing Washington on the one?
Posted by Liberal on Jul. 08 2015,1:30 pm
Why does it matter? I couldn't care less if every bill had a woman, pretty sure it will spend just like a bill with a man on it.  God I'll be glad when you old kooks have all  died off, or are  laying in a nursing home depending a gay male nursing aid to wipe your ass until the day you die.

If it were my choice I'd put Rosa Parks on a bill.

Posted by Marneman on Jul. 08 2015,11:41 pm
I only asked because it seems like they can't make up their minds about who the want to replace.   I don't mind if they put a woman on the currancy,  but it should be because that woman deserves it, not because we want to be PC about it.

Or mug shots of all the Wallstreet crooks who continue to steal billions from working class America.

I can think of many women I'd like to see replace Ben Franklin. I'm not real keen on replacing a President, but the hundred dollar bill could be changed every 1o years or so and I wouldn't complain. Maybe we'd get lucky and have collectors take millions out of circulation everytime we changed it, so the change would be funded by currency collectors.

I would also prefer to see Rosa Parks to be on a bill. If you read about her it took a lot of guts to do what she did. Also Clara Barton, Harriet Tubman, Dolly Madison, Louisa May Alcott, and probably a dozen others that are just as deserving as Franklin. Although if we're going with SB's idea and have her topless my vote is Marilyn Monroe.

Though she's still alive and I don't think I want to see her topless, Sandra Day OConnor.

Yeah, thanks,  now that image will be stuck in my head everytime I see a picture of her.
