I predict Mayor Ford will move to the US and run on the democrat ticket for 2016.

Far better than Clinton or Biden.

Could be...
We already know experience & background doesn't matter :dunno:

You'd think Ford would run as a teabagger, he'd fit right in there.

Ford’s a right-winger, it was those evil Canadian liberals that got him hooked on crack & booze!

He’ll probably end up driving truck with you and the Somalis, another right-wing success story,Tea Party Fodder.

Even Congressmen have bad habits.  But a guy gets a misdemeanor for a Federal drug sting involving cocaine?

Guess he should get by without a felony, that way he can stay in Congress and vote for laws that put other people in prison for the same drugs he's doing. :sarcasm:    :(

Posted by Self-Banished on Nov. 21 2013,4:43 am
^nope, he should have the book thrown at him, stripped of his congressional seat. But our lax judicial system and two sided courts will prevail for him.

Plus I believe all welfare recipients should be drug tested :D

Our judicial system isn't lax, the U.S. incarcerates citizens at a higher rate than any other country on the globe.  That's the opposite of lax, and most are in prison for non-violent offenses.

I was pointing out the hypocrisy, and the difference in sentencing when the guy has money and power versus the average American.

Posted by Self-Banished on Nov. 21 2013,7:17 am
Yes, there are lots of folks in prison for non violent crimes but in this country, if you got money or influence, you pretty much walk.

I remember when OJ walked, my first thought was "finest justice money can buy"

At what point did our system of justice become a for-profit enterprise?
Posted by Self-Banished on Nov. 21 2013,8:32 am
^ a good example of that is Appleton MN.

I should say was.

You must be referring to former President Bill Clinton when he was caught for perjury and obstructing justice.

I can see that.

The dems need someone who will be up front with America and show us how they are willing to spend more than they have.

Posted by Self-Banished on Nov. 22 2013,2:32 pm
^ yea-right, like that'll happen. The Dems just stacked the deck in their favor with minimum majority filibuster deal.  :(

It they lose the majority and the presidency I wonder how fast they'll scream "unfair"!

As in

< Reid goes nuclear. >

Senate Democrats force historic change on chamber rules and scale back filibusters

In a 52-48 vote led by Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), senators changed their own chamber's rules to allow the confirmation of certain presidential nominees with a simple majority vote -- a procedure known as the 'nuclear option.'

The change makes it vastly easier for President Obama or future Presidents to win confirmation of their nominations and will reduce the power of individual senators to hold up nominations to extract concessions from the executive branch.

Republicans threatened to strike back if they recapture control of the Senate by using the same tactic to end filibusters.

But Reid told reporters he doesn’t care.

Reid has seen the republitards approval rating and realizes that's sort of an empty threat.

Congress' approval rating at all time low...
No matter how you try to slice it...senate is a part of Congress...reid can ignore his failures & lack of negotiation skills all he wants...& manipulate a system to 'get his way'...
He can't hide the fact he's the big problem...& a hypocrite!!

"I just couldn't believe Bill Frist was going to do this.
The storm has been gathering all year and word from Conservatives was that Senator Frist of TN, who was the majority leader, had decided to pursue a rules change that would kill the filibuster for judicial nominations. And once you open that Pandora's box it was just a matter of time before a senate leader, who couldn't get his way on something, move to eliminate the filibuster for regular business as well.  And that, simply put, would be the end of the US Senate".

PRINCETON STUDENTS CULMINATE “FRIST FILIBUSTER” WITH SPEECHES FROM SENATORS JON CORZINE AND CHUCK SCHUMER

WASHINGTON, DC – After more than 385 hours, Princeton University students culminated their mock “filibuster” of Bill Frist with speeches from Senators Jon Corzine and Chuck Schumer today. Students began their protests at Princeton University on April 26th and arrived at the Capitol at 9:00 am on Wednesday where they were joined by students from Georgetown, Howard, George Mason, and Trinity.

“In standing up for the filibuster, these students stand with precedent and they stand with history,” Corzine said. “The filibuster protects the rights of every American and is an important part of our check and balances. I applaud their energy and civic mindedness and I’m glad to have a chance to speak with them.”

Sen. Chuck Schumer said, "This campaign to protect checks and balances is a truly grassroots effort. The American people including college kids from around the country are keenly aware that extremists who are way out of the mainstream are in control of the Republican Party right now. We hope that a few more brave Senators from the other side of the aisle will stand with us to block this historic mistake from becoming a reality."

Since arriving in Washington, Senator Frank Lautenberg, Congressman Rush Holt, and Constitutional scholars Peter Rubin, Bob Weinberg, and Michael Seidman have also joined the students.
