Okay, so we've probably all seen those "Army of One" commercials... or the "see yourself in the Army" commercials. They always brag that there are "over 180 ways" to be an American soldier.
Does this strike anyone else as an odd figure? I could see "over 100 ways" to serve in the army... or even "over 150 ways." "Over 180 ways" just seems like... a really odd number to give as a ballpark figure. Might as well say "There are just slightly fewer than 200 ways to become an American soldier"...
Just curious.

The number refers to the number of job titles available or Military Occupational Specialties.
Such as Infantry man to clerk to mechanic to cook to finacial services to medic to radiology etc etc etc.

Hehe. True, true... and obviously this is a number that sticks because it is so weird, so I guess it's effective advertising.
