Those are some purdy fish. Dang those would be fun to catch!

Yeah 'Marlins of The Midwest' or something. Cute little heavily sponsor laden show they've got there. Nicely put together. Nice framing of the experience, terrain, geography, atmosphere, vibe, camaraderie and so on and so forth.
I'd like to go there on a breezy day and stick a small sail boat in there. Nothing but the sound of the water lapping up against the boat. And the gusty prairie winds in my sails. My contribution to fishing, that day, could be eating some pickled herring or something. lol
It looks like it is roughly the same distance to Windom as it is to the Mississippi at Winona or Lake Pepin.
Albert Lea to Pepin - 1 h 40 min (97.3 mi) via I-90 E and US-63
Albert Lea to Windom - 1 h 34 min (104.1 mi) via I-90 W
Albert Lea to Winona - 1 h 36 min (104.8 mi) via I-90 E
So while it is a lot closer than say some place like Lake Winnibigoshish. It still puts Albert Lea in a great position if it ever figures out how to exploit its wilderness and lake areas.
Being as that everything is either east or west mostly it seems.

Not much of a fisherman huh hymie? Never been on a sailboat but that does sound nice. I was always partial to little rowboats. Row to the middle of the lake and just drift and fish. One of my favorite shows when I was little was Babe Winkleman. When I was fishing alone, I used to pretend I had my own fishing show. When I found out that Babe (and another big one from the 70's. can't remember his name lol) used to fish and get paid for it, I couldn't believe it! That was my goal, be on the water, catch fish and get paid for it! I still can't imagine a better way to make a living.
Any ideas on how Albert Lea could better utilize it's wilderness and lakes?
