I'm just wondering if people think it's wrong to genetically splice to animals together like a coral and a zebra fish to come up with a glow in the dark fish.
Last year Time magazine called the genetically altered glowing Rice fish the invention of the year and since then another genetically altered fish just received USDA approval for sale in the US.(the glofish) The altered Rice fish had been sold for a short time until the Glofish got approval ,but, I couldn't get my hands on one and now the USDA has banned them. This new fish will be widely available all over the country. It's already in area pet stores (Austin mall for $14 a fish and at the pet store in Medford for $8-$9 Medford doesn't have any in stock right now but will get some on tues.)
There is a large group of people that think this is wrong and think the govt. should ban all genetically altered animals. Personally I think it's pretty cool and plan to pick some up in the cities on thurs..
I couldn't find any cool pictures of the glofish but here's what the glowing rice fish look like.
