The paper seems revived to some degree with better stories. But, what really impressed me was the great cover photography (footprints in snow). I had to do a doubletake and make sure I was at the Albert Lea Tribune site!  :D

The thing I like about the content of the paper after Dylans departure is more emphasis on the news, and less on editorializing.  I could never understand how newspapers--businesses supported by their reader-customers--felt it necessary to endorse or promote candidates or agendas.  Virtually no other business does that openly--there are laws to prevent that.  Even other media outlets don't do that--you don't see radio or television stations using their publicly-granted license to endorse.

Substituting "guest editorials" from syndicated writers has filled the "editorial gap", along with the Tribune's Feature writers and guest columnists (yes, even David Rask Behling!) :D   Between these columnists and the ACTUAL REPORTING OF THE NEWS, there is enough controversy stirred up to keep the community engaged and informed.

The newspaper has become more NEWSWORTHY--WITHOUT a designated "editor".  Whether this is a conscious decision by Boone Newspapers, or aggressive young reporters going off on their own--I like it.

I agree, our two cub reporters tend to report NEWS that they GET, not just what they're GIVEN.  But I have to say one thing, I miss Dylan.  That's right, I do.... I miss thrashing him every Monday morning after his editorial on Sunday. :p
