Was back in town for the 4th of July weekend to visit my folks and my best friend and family.  First time I've been back for an extended time in probably 3 years.  Can't say much has changed other than which roads they are tearing up.  Last time it was main, this time it's bridge.  Brought the girlfriend with so she could see my old stomping grounds and see why I left as soon as I could.
It's really kinda sad. It is a really gorgeous town with lots of potential.  But for whatever reason the citizens keep voting the same idiots in year after year to run it.  Been that way for as long as I can remember.
Just reinforces that my decision to leave was the best choice.

I told my girlfriend that it's all just old people now.  All the kids that have the ability to leave, do.  Streets rolled up at 5pm.  I suppose no reason to stay open since 80% of the citizenry were home soaking their dentures.

Seems that way.  I see the population is around 16k now.  At this rate will be about 12k at the next census.

^^it’s become a retirement town along with a bunch of dead end job sources and  run by overpaid bureaucrats.
