The Oscar were on last night.  And right up to the broadcast they kept bringing up the whole "Oscars Too White" crap.  They complained that the nominating committee is made up of old white men and thats why there isn't enough diversity.  But what the people raising a big stink about this don't relize is how this is going to come back to bite them in the future.  If a black actor or actress gets nominated next year and goes on to win because of an outstanding performance worthy of an oscar, ther will be those people out there who will say"They only won because their black".  I agree that maybe the nominating committee needs more diversity, but by raising a public stink about this prior to the telivised awards ceromoney is going to cause more problems in the long run.

Last night was the first time I've ever watched any awards ceremony. We were curious how the whole issue would be handled. We watched the whole thing ...except for the hour that The Walking Dead was on.

I thought Chris Rock did a great job as the host. Our eyes bugged out a few times at some of the things he said. We got the impression that he brought attention to how there is also racism in Hollywood, but also that some people are hyper-sensitive to the issue of racism. Even when he announced the first transgender nominee he commented about  how he didn't dare make a joke there, which to us seemed to be a statement. He made fun of women, men, whites, blacks, cops.

Sylvester Stallone was nominated but Will Smith was not?? Seriously, that right there shows the racism! Sorry to any Stallone fans, but in my opinion he is one of the worst actors ever. Just as bad is how sometimes Hispanic roles are played by non-Hispanics, and Native American roles are played by non-Native Americans. - I don't understand that at all.

I agree with you that there will be people saying future Oscar winners won just because they are black.
I also don't like how the people who skipped the Oscars held a benefit for the people of Flint Michigan instead. Making a statement against one thing by being charitable towards another thing? Like Trump skipping the Fox debate to raise money for vets. There needs to be an ulterior motive to help people? - To me, that's just the impression it gives. I'm not saying that none of these people are ever charitable, but that sort of charity just feels like it's done in retaliation. "I'm mad and I don't have anything better to do so I'm gonna help some poor people."

Hollywood is the watering hole for all types, fake liberals not being the least. Opulence compromises any social causes they espouse. Haven't been to the movies in years. Predictable stories, glamorizing cruel wicked characters, writer/producer imagination thwarted by an unimaginative paying public willing to suck up a few hours of re-hashed soaps.

People still watch that tripe?  Those award shows just need to die, an absolute waste of air time.  These types of shows have had fewer and fewer viewership over the last decade, and simply cannot compete with shows like "The Walking Dead"  I guess the reality is, no one cares or should care about who got this or got that while stringing it along in wasted time.  Those dumb award shows are like what?  3hrs?

I've only ever known one person who ever watched that tripe. My sister. She loves all the awards ceremonies, all the music ones too. Ick! So disappointed lol. I've always detested them and what they seem to represent. The opulent superficial extravagance of things like this seems more out of place every year. And the red carpet interviews, wow, so shallow and annoying. Naming the designer of each dress seemed to be a big part of it. I wonder if any average citizen even knows these names or cares one iota about that crap.
I hated these awards ceremonies before I ever saw one, and now that I've seen one I hate them even more and I can't even fathom what event could get me to watch one ever again.
Grinning Dragon, I think this one was almost 4 hours long. Thank goodness for my one hour zombie break out of that 4 hour long zombie fest.

I have never watched them. I used to watch the music awards and then came the "put to fame" people. They commercialize them until people actually think they are good. I don't need to waste my time to watch a bunch of people glorify each other. Their greed puts a damper on it.
