I'm watching a PBS special on population growth throughout the world, and... man. It's sobering. One of the stats given: One child born in the United States will consume and pollute more than thirty children born in India. (As a side note on pollution, the US contributes 1/4 of the world's greenhouse gases.)
Also, in 1950, the population of sub-Saharan Africa was 1/3 that of Europe. In 2050, the population of sub-Saharan Africa will be three TIMES that of Europe.
Geez.

Interesting...
Did they do stats on Albert Lea?
Before Paul Sparks = 20,000 plus & growing
After 25 years of Paul Sparks = Under 18,000 & shrinking
