This is how an incubator should work, getting a company started & on it’s feet, not a place where current businesses can take up shop & enjoy reduced rent payments.
Firepond, a local software company which had been leasing 14,000 square feet in Mankato’s business incubator moved out of the incubator into the renovated 5 story Brett’s office building in downtown Mankato bringing with 33 well paying jobs downtown.
The developer of the renovated Brett’s building has been securing leases since January & is already 50% leased.
Win-win situation all around: -Opens up space in the incubator for a new business to get established -An historic building has been refurbished to an upscale office building and is on the tax rolls If I recall, this is the same developer who asked the city for $500,000 to help remodel the building. The city declined to help so the developer did all renovations on his own.
Here is the story but the cheap-o's at the Free Press will charge you to read their paper on line. Free press
