OH, SPAM…it's a food group all its own that is often misunderstood.

"I think SPAM as a breakfast meat is underappreciated. I think, compared to bacon or sausage that we get sick of, people should try the SPAM breakfast strips. They're really good. I enjoyed them,"

Gov. Pawlenty Visiting Austin

How sick of bacon and sausage would a person have to be ???

One of my favorite foods, too.  I'm the Forrest Gump of Spam--"there's fried spam, sweet & sour Spam, Spam & eggs, Spam Casserole, Spam & Beans, Pickled Spam, Barbecued Spam, Spam Teriyaki, Spam Spread, Deviled Spam....". :p

Hawaii eats more Spam than any other State--I had Spam Sashimi--Spam chunks and Rice, rolled up in Seaweed--at an upscale restaurant there.  Proof that if you tell "Metrosexuals" that a place is TRENDY, they'll think it's the latest IN THING! :D

Are you saying that you are a Metrosexual jim?  :D  I never have been a huge fan of it, but it is not bad in some casseroles or mixed with eggs.  Lots of people overseas love it.  When I was in Korea, they made it with really spicy sauce, it was actually great.

"Metrosexual"--no, Clarks Grove hardly qualifies as Metro--and I'm certainly not one to follow "trendy" items (if I WAS, I'd jump on the Bush Bashing Bandwagon!)--just kidding! :D

I learned to like Spam in the Army--pretty hard to ruin THAT stuff!  When I flew for Hormel, we would see them making it in the plant--it's made and cooked in 550 lb. blocks--comes out of the cookers kind of gray colored--THAT's unappetizing!

I draw the line at eating Spam gelatin from around the stuff, though! :D

Honestly, Spam contains too much lard and salt to be a healthy food item. Even the "low fat" version. The turkey Spam is even loaded down with lard. All verisons contain too much salt as well.

A perfect food for starving soldiers in the winter, but that stuff will kill us today...LOL :D

Spam may work well in Hawaiian dishes as an enhancer, but it's too darn rich to eat alone or as a primary part of a main dish. Hormel has some of the poorest marketing I've ever seen..or have not seen....I don't recall any of their advertising. Hormel needs new blood, a fresh approach and a more modern image.

What are you talking about minnow?  Isn't Spam the number one most recognized food item in the world today?  People actually go to the museum.     I don't think they advertize much around here, but they certainly do advertise in other states and countries.

Jim the Bush Bashing Wagon got so full I got crowded right off.  Actually, with his position on the illegals, I was going to vote for Edwards, but I would never vote for Kerry.

What does SPAM stand for? Anything?  I thought that it did.

I really like to watch that program on TLC (I think) about the history of foods, candies, drinks, etc.  Good information on there, like it.

Is "SPAM" an acronym for Super. Processed. Amalgamated. Meat.
