I never thought slot machines would help the farmers but I guess I'm wrong. It seems if we let Canterbury park have slots then the horse track will do better and then they will be able to have more races and if they have more races then there will be more horses in the state and since horses eat oats the price of oats will go up and that will help the farmers.

"The well-being of Canterbury Park affects the growth of the thoroughbred industry, and the horse industry affects the agriculture industry," said Minnesota Thoroughbred Association representative Ken Miller. Horses eat agricultural goods, such as oats, that farmers produce.

Yes, but to carry this "logic" even further--if the price of oats went up, the price of my Cheerios would go up, and I would end up paying for the horse track! :D

On the other hand, horse manure is used to grow Mushrooms--there could be a whole new industry in the state--Mushroom raising!  (goes along with those other great ideas--golf in the mosquito-infested swamps, Iron World, Chopsticks factories, salmon-raising in the iron mines, and canoe travel on the Shell Rock!) :D

Skip the mushrooms, I think they are trying to feed the horse manure to us directly! :D

With all the shenanigans going on north of the border I was beginning to think your local goverment thinks the  taxpayers are mushrooms. (keeping them in the dark and feeding them shiitaki )
Iowa just seems to have more common sense.
