President Trump said he would veto it if it contained a reference to renaming military bases named after confederate generals. Congress shouldn't be able to do it. If it's that important, It should be on the 2022 Election and let the American voters decide.

As an alumnus survivor of Fort Bragg training I say fuk Braxton Bragg, he was a confederate general,( traitor) a plantation owner with over a 100 slaves.
You hear a lot about the heroic acts of Minnesota's 1st Infantry at Gettysburg but Minnesota's 2nd Infantry actually engaged Braxton Bragg at Chickamauga and Missionary Ridge...If your Minnesota lineage goes back to the 1860's and you lost an ancestor to the Civil War Braxton Bragg played a part in his death...
It makes as much sense calling it Fort Bragg as it would calling it Fort Ho Chi Minh...

What are you going to do about all the Irish that were brought here as Indentured servants. [ just a glorified name for a slave] My great great grandparents were Irish Expat. After the civil war ALL confederate solders brought into the union army to heal our nation.

I gave my opinion as a Veteran who was once posted at Bragg.
We made a mistake letting Southern politicians name these bases after what are essentially traitors to the United States.
I believe Fort Bragg was named by some Fayetteville mayor in Honor of Braxton Bragg, we shouldn't be paying homage to Traitors.
Same goes for all these statues, they were erected by southerners still rebelling against the union. It's an insult to every northern civil war veteran as well as an affront to the union as a whole.
Trump's a Draft Dodger, he doesn't give a damn about these bases, he's just appeasing his confederate flag waving cult!

Like after every war there was a serious downsizing of the Military, a mustering out of entire Brigades, even union troops who wanted to stay were forced to take a reduction in rank/grade.
You may find a few examples of confederates enlisting in the union Army but few if any.
